Scholarly Journal Article:
After choosing, researching and presenting on a major literary journal of my choice, I had the opportunity to conduct my own research and write a scholarly article on a topic that might be addressed in the journal I chose. My paper had to imitate the general tone, style, and research methods of other articles in the journal I chose. I personally chose to write for Persuasions: The Jane Austen Journal, putting forth my own original research on the topic of how familiar STEM majors are with Austen’s works and how they perceive Jane Austen’s influence on the world. I then address how Austen can be better taught to future students to correct misconceptions about Austen’s work.
